Saturday, May 17 was a sunny day with a slight breeze, perfect for a golf scramble! Each year we bring together the community and Evangelical Christian School (ECS) to play a great game of golf and to raise money for a scholarship that will be given to a student within the aviation program. The scholarship enables this student to earn his or her private pilot license and to join the field of aviation.

The golf scramble is open to the public and is an annual event hosted in the Spring. It’s a great opportunity to meet new faces, make some friends and to play a great game of golf. Groups are also encouraged to come out and play, and all ages are welcome!

This year we had teams join us on the course at River Hall country club for our fourth annual scramble, and oh boy was it a fun time! The morning started with registration, checking in teams, signing the event poster and raffle tickets going out to those who wanted to try their hand at winning our Yeti cooler of awesomeness!

We provide everyone with coffee, orange juice, and breakfast goodies before the scramble begins. The pastries and muffins kept everyone going before it was time to take to the course. We had many sponsors who helped create one of the best days we could have asked for and had great company thanks to everyone who participated. Groups took off to their tees and started swinging. The occasional joke about bad swings was made and each group could be found with smiles on their faces and a club in their hands. After everyone took their shot we headed inside for lunch and awards to finish off the day. Congratulations to our winning team made of Steve Meltzer, Joe Gillespie, Frank Turco, and Trennen Turco.

Each year we meet new individuals and each year it only gets better. We couldn’t have done it without all of those who came out to support the ECS scholarship scramble and those who sponsored the event. Thank you to Wolf, Metzger and Maurillo Wealth Management Group, STS Properties, Renee and Craig Johnson, Fred and Gingy Quinn, Cap Air, LSI Companies, Impact Zone Golf, EA Focus Inc, Gorilla Spares, Jeppesen, Coral Isle Builders, Captiva Cruises, Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts, Frantz Eye Care, Cypress Air Charter, My Shower Door, the De Poala family and Wavetech Powersports. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for next year!
