FAA Commercial Pilot Requirements

Having a pilot license doesn’t mean that you can automatically work in the cockpit. Pilots must meet the FAA commercial pilot requirements and secure a Commercial Pilot License. Paragon Flight provides a range of custom options for pilots as well as an accelerated course, the P3 Professional Pilot Program, that saves ambitious pilots both time and money.

Students can pursue the P3 Professional Pilot Program or other commercial pilot programs at three Paragon Flight locations. We call Page Field (FMY) in Fort Myers, FL, the Punta Gorda Airport (PGD) in Punta Gorda, FL, and the LaGrange-Callaway Airport (LGC) in LaGrange, GA, home. Each site offers modern facilities, comprehensive practice fields, runways, and more.

Students who come to Paragon Flight do not find disappointment-producing flight training. We function as a FAR Part 61 and Part 141-approved flight school, and as such, we can cater to the demands of part-time and full-time pilots. Whether students need one-on-one or classroom-based approaches, we provide them with the necessary training.

Discover the P3 Professional Pilot Program

The P3 Program helps ambitious pilots meet their professional goals as pilots in fewer than ten months instead of the 2+ years it would take with traditional routes. Consider the P3 Timeline, for instance:

P3 Schedule

• 0-10 WEEKS, Private Pilot License (PPL) Training – the basis for all aviation training by ensuring the development of best practices and good habits as a pilot and a thorough understanding of aviation concepts and aircraft systems.
• 11-18 WEEKS, Instrument Flight Rating (IFR) Training – instruction and training to allow pilots to fly in nonvisual conditions using communication and navigation aircraft systems.
• 19-30 WEEKS, Commercial License, Single Engine and Multi-Engine (CSEL and CMEL) Training – mastery level training for professional pilots to operate single-engine and multi-engine planes
• 31-38 WEEKS, Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) Training – certified professional pilots to work as flight instructors. This role will allow them to accrue flight hours and perfect their skills while making a living, doing what they love, and sharing their passion.

The P3 Program is accelerated and intensive. It requires a full-time commitment and a dedicated attitude. For this reason, our prerequisites are somewhat more extensive than those of other programs.

P3 participants must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or GED, present two character references (one personal and one professional), demonstrate a clean MVR and FAA record, have a clean criminal background check, pass a behavioral and cognitive assessment, obtain a First Class FAA Medical Certificate, read and write the English language, participate in 4-5 flight lessons and 10-20 hours of ground training each week, and prove themselves to be honest and hard-working.
