Optional - Certified Flight Instructor (CFI)

Becoming a flight instructor is an optional step that many commercial pilots pursue. This specialized training teaches you how to instruct others in flight. The initial instructor ratings include the Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) for single-engine instruction and the Multi-Engine Instructor (MEI) for multi-engine instruction. For many, obtaining a CFI or MEI is a common early career path, allowing pilots to gain paid flying experience while building the flight hours needed for airline and other commercial opportunities.
