Can You Train To Be A Commercial Pilot Without A Degree?

If you love flight but your feelings about school are a bit more ambivalent, you might wonder if you can train to be a commercial pilot without a degree. At Paragon Flight, we operate under FAR guidelines Part 61 and Part 141, so we’re able to provide a wide range of training opportunities, even if you don’t have a college degree.

Can You Train To Be A Commercial Pilot Without A Degree?

Paragon Flight provides curated programs of flight training for private, commercial, and military purposes. A commercial license is essential for anyone who wants to make a living as a pilot. In fact, it’s mandated by the FAA that a commercial license be held by anyone accepting money in exchange for flight services. To pursue a commercial license, you’ll just need a Private Pilot License (PPL), be 18 years of age, and have either a high school diploma or a GED.

To create a custom program for flight training, book a consultation with our Head Flight Instructor. We’ll take into consideration your availability, timeline, goals, budget, and learning style. During this meeting, we’ll nail down every detail and help you find financial resources depending on your situation.

Paragon Flight facilitates training with numerous opportunities for documenting flight time with stellar aircraft and year-round clear skies. The Jeppesen curriculum is world-class and proven, and our flight instructors are, quite literally, some of the best in the world.

Commercial flight training consists of knowledge-based training and practical training in the simulator and in the sky. Prepare to learn everything you need to know about aerodynamics, aircraft operations and systems, flight school processes, weather impacts on flight, NTSB rules, and more. We’ll provide one-on-one training that prepares you well and helps boost your confidence to clear the check-ride hiccup-free.

Save Time and Money on the Professional Route

If you want to fly professionally and have ambition and availability, consider the P3 Professional Pilot Program at Paragon Flight. The program breaks training into four stages, takes 38 weeks, and creates ready, commercially licensed flight instructors.

Stage One prepares you to earn your Private Pilot License (PPL). You can omit this phase if you’re already a private pilot. This phase is foundational, and we consider it the most important since it’s the basis for all future training. This stage takes 10 weeks to complete.

Stage Two allows you to level up your license with an Instrument Flight Rating (IFR). These eight weeks of training prepare you to fly using instruments and systems while flying in instrument conditions rather than visual flight conditions.

Stage Three is another twelve weeks, and it will train you to clear all of the evaluations needed to become a Commercial Single-Engine and Multi-Engine Licensed Pilot (CSEL and CMEL).

The final stage lasts eight weeks and provides training to become a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI). This role is the ideal entry point to the occupation since you can document the hours spent in the sky as you work toward qualifications for other roles. You’ll also be able to make a living, hone your skills, and share your passion with others.
