FAA Certified Pilot Training Schools
Think all pilot training schools are FAA certified? Think again.
Not every flight school meets the rigorous standards of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and training at a non-certified school can jeopardize your skills, safety, and long-term aviation goals. At Paragon Flight, we’re proud to be FAA certified under Part 141 and Part 61, giving our students trusted, flexible training options that align with their goals. Don’t compromise your future, train with a school that meets the highest standards. Train with Paragon Flight.
FAA certification guarantees that a flight school meets strict national safety, quality, and effectiveness standards. Certified schools must maintain high standards across aircraft maintenance, instructor qualifications, curriculum structure, and training facilities.
Flight schools can be authorized under Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) Part 141 or 61. While most operate under just one, Paragon Flight is certified under both, offering students structured full-time programs and flexible, self-paced training options. FAA certification also means our programs are regularly reviewed to ensure compliance, effectiveness, and ongoing excellence in pilot education.
Part 141 vs. Part 61 Flight Training
FAA flight training regulations fall under two main categories: Part 141 and Part 61. These classifications define how a flight school structures and delivers its training programs.
Part 141 schools follow a rigid, FAA-approved syllabus with clearly defined stages and benchmarks. These programs are typically more formal, require fewer flight hours for specific licenses, and are designed for full-time students pursuing aviation careers. The structure and accountability make them ideal for focused, professional training.
Part 61 programs, on the other hand, offer more flexibility in scheduling and instructional approach. Lessons can be tailored to fit individual learning styles and personal commitments, making them popular for hobbyists, part-time students, or those with work and family obligations.
While the paths may differ in structure, both lead to the same FAA certifications. Students are held to identical standards during testing and checkrides, regardless of whether they train under Part 141 or Part 61.
Why Choose an FAA-Certified Flight School?
Attending an FAA-certified flight school like Paragon Flight is essential if you’re serious about safety, quality, and long-term aviation success. FAA oversight ensures that every aspect of your training, from aircraft maintenance and instructor qualifications to curriculum structure and facilities, meets rigorous national standards.
Students at FAA-authorized schools also gain access to critical financial resources. These include federal student aid (such as grants and subsidized loans), GI Bill® benefits for veterans, and scholarships only available through certified institutions.
Planning to become a professional airline pilot? Airlines recognize and prefer training from FAA-certified schools because it reflects adherence to regulated safety and instructional standards.
International students must also choose FAA-authorized schools that participate in the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP). Only these schools can issue I-20 forms required to apply for the M-1 Student Visa, the designated visa type for non-resident students in the U.S.
