About the P3 Program

How Do I Become a Commercial Airline Pilot?

Paragon Flight’s P3 Program offers a clear and efficient path to becoming a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI). Because the P3 Program is rigorous and fast-paced, applicants must demonstrate readiness and commitment. While exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis, the general requirements include:

  • Age: Minimum 18 years old
  • Education: High school diploma or GED (college degree is preferred)
  • Character References: Two required (one professional, one personal)
  • Driving & Criminal Record: Clean and responsible history
  • Behavioral/Cognitive Evaluation: Must pass
  • FAA Record: Free of accidents, incidents, or enforcement actions
  • FAA Medical Certificate: First Class
  • Language Proficiency: Must read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Availability: Full-time commitment (4–5 flight lessons and 10–20 classroom hours weekly)
  • Personal Traits: Hard-working, honest, self-motivated, and of good moral character

The program is divided into four structured training phases, each building on the previous to develop the skills, certifications, and experience needed to launch a successful professional aviation career.

  1. Private Pilot License (Weeks 0–10): Learn foundational skills, flight safety, and aviation basics.
  2. Instrument Flight Rating (Weeks 11–18): Train to fly in low-visibility conditions using navigation systems.
  3. Single & Multi-Engine Commercial License (Weeks 19–30): Master advanced maneuvers and meet FAA commercial pilot standards.
  4. Certified Flight Instructor (Weeks 31–38): Gain instructional experience and start earning while logging flight hours.

When students complete the P3 Program, we know they’re ready. That’s why we give preference to P3 graduates when hiring flight instructors. It’s a chance to earn, teach, and build the 1,500 flight hours needed to apply to the airlines.
