IFR Instrument Training Course

Have you earned your Private Pilot License (PPL) and want to continue your aviation education with an IFR instrument training course at Paragon Flight?

Instrument Flight Rating (IFR) Training

IFR Instrument Training CourseThe IFR – Instrument Flight Rating – is the logical next step for newly minted private pilots. The course concentrates on using the tools and systems of communication and navigation needed to fly in conditions that limit flight by sight alone.

When pilots want to fly long distances, the potential for circumstances requiring instruments is high. Whether you want to progress to commercial training or not, having an instrument flight rating is essential for any pilot who plans to fly frequently.

Our instrument training program at Paragon Flight falls under FAA Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) Part 141. The high standards that this classification merit benefit the students whom we train. Students usually complete the instrument flight rating program in 35-45 hours of practical time in the cockpit. We offer the use of an incredible simulator for training that will help shave off significant time and expense from training.

Instrument Flight Rating (IFR) Program

Speak to our team about a custom instrument training program. In general, though, the program follows three distinct stages that combine practical and knowledge-based training.

  • Stage One – focuses on the basics of IFR, precise altitude control through instrument use, and growth in navigation competence.
  • Stage Two – focus on holding patterns and instrument approaches using panel techniques.
  • Stage Three – focus on IFR cross-country processes and work toward passing the evaluations required to earn an Instrument Flight Rating (IFR).
