Private Pilot Flying Lessons
Looking to pursue private pilot flying lessons? Reach out to Paragon Flight to book a custom course to help you reach your goals. The Private Pilot License (PPL) is the initial step in aviation education, and whether you plan to stop with this goal or continue up the ladder of training, we set the stage for success.
Private Pilot License (PPL) Training at Paragon Flight
Private and commercial pilots begin with Private Pilot License (PPL) training. At Paragon Flight, we break this training into manageable stages, starting with a Discovery Flight and then three different training stages.
Discovery Flight—Kick off private pilot training with an introductory discovery flight. This flight experience will include a mini-lesson followed by a practice fight, during which you will have the opportunity to briefly take control of the aircraft. The Discovery Flight will conclude with an onboarding meeting, during which we’ll outline everything you should expect during your training.
Stage One – The first stage introduces the fundamentals of flight training. It will take 20-30 hours to complete and introduce you to all of the foundational elements of aviation. You’ll learn the lingo, flight principles, policies regarding airport operations and airspace, radio and communications, weather, FAA regulations and rules, checklist use, and flight maneuvers.
By the end of Stage One, you should be ready to pass a Paragon Flight Stage Check. We will ensure that you are where you should be in training, begin preparing you for FAA evaluations, build your confidence, and ensure that you’re ready for your initial solo flight.
Stage Two—Your second stage will focus on solo flight training. You’ll need to keep improving your skills continuously as you prepare for cross-country flights. The stage will culminate with a Stage Check to ensure that you’re on track with your training and prepared to take your solo cross-country flights.
Stage Three – The final stage of your private pilot training prepares you to pass the FAA evaluations required to earn your license. You’ll take your last solo flights, wrap up any loose ends, and then concentrate on evaluation prep.
The final stage check will be the End of Course (EOC) flight. This exam closely mirrors the FAA flight exam, so you know you can confidently walk into your FAA exams when you pass our test!
The Private Pilot License (PPL) training that you’ll experience here at Paragon Flight will include a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI), paired with you to work with your learning preferences and goals, and the standard aircraft for the training, the Piper PA28 “Pilot.” The Jeppesen curriculum, developed by a Boeing subsidiary and proven to produce safe, able pilots 30% faster than the national average, completes our training process.
