Become a Private Pilot
Private pilots are able to fly themselves and groups of family members and friends for sight-seeing adventures and short trips. This license is the foundation for all future aviation education, so it’s the most important. Paragon Flight breaks the program into stages that build upon one another in order to make the intimidating process a bit more manageable.
- Starting Point – Discovery Flight and On-Boarding Meeting
This “mini-lesson” allows potential student-pilots to learn what to expect and have hands-on time in the cockpit. The meeting will allow you to discuss goals, scheduling, and other factors relevant to your situation along with a discussion of finances and trainer assignment.
- Stage One – Flight Training Fundamentals (20-30 hours of practical training)
This phase will introduce aviation basics including:
- Aviation vocabulary
- Flight principles
- Airspace and airport operations
- Radio and communications
- Weather
- FAA regulations and rules
- Checklist usage
- Flight maneuvers – takeoff and landing
Stage one will end with a “Stage Check” immediately before your first solo flight.
- Stage Two – Advanced/Solo Flight Training (10-15 hours of practical training)
Improve flight skills and prepare for cross-country flights. This stage will also end with a “Stage Check” before setting off on solo cross-country flights.
- Stage Three – Examination and Testing (10-15 hours of practical training)
The last phase of training will include the completion of all final requirements and preparation for the verbal and practical FAA checkride. This exam will follow a final “Stage Check” with us, which we call the End of Course (EOC) flight.
