Scheduling for Becoming a Licensed Pilot
The guidelines for becoming a pilot are specific. The FAA prescribes specific flight hours required for pilot certificates:
- Sport pilot certificate – 20 hours
- Recreational certificate – 30 hours
- Private pilot certificate – 35-40 hours
- Commercial pilot certificate – 120-250 hours
- Airline transport pilot certificate – 1,500 hours
Aircraft for Training Purposes
The aircraft used by Paragon Flight for training purposes are all Technically Advanced Aircraft (TAA). These planes have Glass Cockpit technology so that our students learn to fly with the same tools they’ll have in the planes they’ll fly in the future.
We use the standard in single-engine flight training, the Cessna 172 Skyhawk because it’s predictable and easily controlled. The Piper PA-44 Seminole is our multi-engine aircraft. We also house a Cessna T182T Skylane, Cessna C206H Stationair, and a Cirrus SR22 G5/G6. If you choose us for flight training, your practical experiences will be completed onsite as well.
Page Field offers a tower-controlled runway about 5,000-feet long and several practice airfields in the local area.
The Ideal Instructors and Curriculum
The Certified Flight Instructors (CFIs) here at Paragon Flight come from a pool of the most qualified instructors in the country. We use the Jeppesen curriculum, created by Boeing, and we’re proud to be one of the few flight schools in the country able to make that claim.

International students are welcome at Paragon Flight. We’re a Part 141 school, as required by the Department of Homeland Security and can provide the I-20 form required to apply for the needed M-1 student visa.
Veterans eligible for GI Bill funds can also find the door open at Paragon Flight. These pilots must attend a Part 141 flight school to use this funding source.
